As a part of the NWLA Thrive Initative, Step Forward provided scholarships for 22 licensed mental health clinicians who serve Medicaid clients to receive training in evidence-based practices to treat trauma. The first training for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) took place on May 3rd and 4th.
EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. You can learn more at www.EMDR.com.
This project formed after Step Forward, the Community Foundation of NWLA, and Caddo Juvenile Services convened 50 mental health professionals to identify priority evidence based practices to treat trauma.
