On September 10th, Laura Alderman, Roxanne Johnson, and Toccara Huckaby presented outcomes to the Shreveport City Council on NWLA Thrive’s School-Based pilot program.
Of the 51 children in the after-school program, the vast majority were in the fifth grade. The previous year, fifth graders had the largest behavioral infractions in the after school. This year, none of the fifth graders had behavioral infractions. Toccara Huckaby credited this improvement with Thrive program—specifically the yoga the children practiced each week.
NWLA Thrive: School based is a pilot project to promote resiliency through enrichment and yoga in the J. S. Clark after school program. You can learn more about NWLA Thrive here.
